life on skates... and loving it! "It's like having an extended family that will do more for you than your real family ever could. More love, more stress, more bruises. Who wouldn't love it?" - Great Dame #5263 (The Dames)
"I don't have to say 'sorry' for hitting someone!"
- Method Ma'am #36 (Parollees) "In this day and time the teenagers my age only seem to care about how they look and what they're wearing. Derby has allowed me to express myself beyond clothes appearance; It's empowered me and made me feel completely bad-ass in this generation where everyone seems so fake" - Rosie Ravage #22 (Groovy Juvies) "The athleticism and determination of these women is astounding to watch, especially knowing that they built up those skills from the ground up." -Nerdgasm (Referee) "If I have to explain, you probably wouldn't understand why I love Roller Derby so much. Until you get out there yourself and experience all the ups and downs, the bruises and the hard training... I love every minute of it! and nothing can keep me from skating." - Lily Monzter #1313 (Parollees) "It's a slammin' good time!" - Slammo Calrissian (Announcer) "¡Mujeres Super Maravillosas! Con talento y fuerza unica...fisica y mental." - Super G #30 (Parollees) |
"Derby isn't about showing up, looking cute and 'going through the motions'... it's about gaining confidence in your abilities and yourself through hard work, dedication and perseverance. Then taking that knowledge and confidence and putting it into action on the track, being bold and working as a team to achieve a common goal. This idea is the same for skaters, officials and everyone who aspires to be more of themselves through roller derby."
